We are now in the peak of the light time with access to so much energy. It’s an easy time to live with long days and lots of space and potential. A time to celebrate, enjoy and often a time to move and travel.
Here are some of my top tips for staying healthy, positive and relaxed whilst travelling.
Healthy Travel Top Tips!
Witch hazel to the rescue! (alcohol free is best)
This is my favourite travel buddy for cuts, bites, bruises, burns and cleansing the skin. It’s astringent, super cooling, healing and refreshing. I take a 50ml bottle and some organic cotton pads in my carry on bag and a big bottle in my checked in luggage ?
Stay hydrated
We are made of about 70% water and need to be properly hydrated for our electrolyte water balance and for our body to function well. I like to take a bottle of water to the airport and drink a litre before I go through security. Then buy 2 lites in departures for the flight. This makes such a difference to how I feel when traveling. Drinking lots and peeing lots helps me feel clean, healthy and fresh when I arrive, and minimises jet lag and fatigue.
Energise with Lemons
With their powerful antioxidant and antiviral properties as well as supporting cleansing by stimulating the liver and uplifting the mood, fresh lemons are a super way to stay energised when travelling. I recommend taking at least one organic lemon in your travel bag (no sharp knives tho!) Its such a great way to improve the energy of food and water and make it feel more alive. A squeeze in water or on your flight meal is super to give it more life force.
Reiki is also a great way to bring in more life force. It’s helpful for lots of travelling issues such as travel sickness and anxiety by promoting calm and relaxation. Reiki is my best tool when travelling for myself and others ☺️
Herbal teas are an easy way to get a cup of goodness when travelling. I love Pukka (cleanse), Heather & Heath (spearmint and chamomile) and Yogi Tea. Mint tea can settle the tummy and chamomile is helpful to relax muscles and mind.
I travel with extra ones and give them out to people in need on the plane.
Another important tool to maintain balance is a scarf. Keeping the body temperature stable when travelling can be tricky when moving into different climates and artificial air machines. I always carry a scarf for keeping cosy and to protect my head and neck from the harsh air conditioning. The effect on the body from drafts in combination with all the viruses and bacteria around make it more likely to feel unwell after travelling. I have my scarf on and as soon as I hear a sneeze or a cough I have my lavender oil at the ready!
Lavender is my favourite essential oil to travel with for so many reasons including…
☀️immune system support and protection (increases white blood cell production)
☀️emergency first aid on cuts, burns, bites
☀️calming and soothing muscles
☀️promotes sleep (just a few drops as lots of Lavender actually wakes up the mind)
Massage ~ I take a blended oil for massaging my hands, feet and shoulders whilst travelling with an almond oil base (10ml bottle is enough) and a few drops of frankincense, lavender and orange essential oil.
see aromatherapy page on website for dosage and indications

A few other helpful essential oils for travel are…
Lime ~ wonderful for refreshing and clearing the groggy fatigue feeling.
Rose Geranium ~ a favourite for balancing hormones and moving lymph. I use a drop in the armpits for emergency odours too ?
Rosemary ~ antioxidant, powerful for moving the blood and dissipating congestion.
(not for those with high blood pressure but helpful if bp is low)
Keeping the blood moving when travelling is so important. Stretching the body regularly especially the legs, feet and back and doing some massage are super for this. I also walk around the airport as much as possible and make sure to walk up stairs rather than use escalators. It feels so good to get the blood moving after sitting squished up ? and is really energising.
Another essential travel tip for staying relaxed and calm is putting head phones on and listening to beautiful music. Especially helpful when waiting in queues and surrounded by intense noise and stressed out people! I find it nurtures my mind and reminds me to breathe long and deep and to find the inner peace that is always available. I love kundalini yoga mantras especially Singh Kaur, Ajeet Kaur and Mirabai Ceiba. Some of the faster ones are helpful too when you need a bit of juice to get through a challenge.
Hoping these tips help you to stay calm, centred and healthy ? and to have a beautiful journey ☀️

p.s If you’re suffering from hay fever right now, make a note for November to get treatment to help yourself for next year. To properly treat hay fever the lining of the upper respiratory system must be healed. Herbal medicine and lifestyle changes can help but the best time to do this is in the wintertime |
