Gifts inspiring health and happiness
We are moving into the time of year when we often think about gifting each other. The thought and energy that goes into the gifts we give can be so special. Even life changing. We are showing our love, care and appreciation of others and giving them our best intentions.
Holding this intent as we navigate through the mass of consumerism can be tricky. The buzz is everywhere pulling us in. The truth is, we all have more than enough “stuff”. We are however most likely in need of time and space to relax and feel good. Gifts that give others positive healing experiences and inspire health and happiness are priceless.
Over the years I’ve given my mum many gifts that have opened up new beginnings for her and have literally changed her life. Singing lessons that led to her joining Wild Fire choir supporting her through times of grief and inspiring her to express herself and feel free. A herbal medicine consultation that helped her move gracefully through the menopause and most recently a Mindfully Energised consultation with the wonderful Lizzie Martin.
I know for sure these gifts were the best I could give. They had a powerful lasting effect more than any material gift. They were positive experiences that gave my mum tools to heal herself and move through lifes challenges. These were gifts that encouraged and inspired health and happiness.
What gifts would inspire life changing opportunities for your loved ones?
What gifts would you like to receive for your own health and happiness?
One of my favourite gifts to receive is time at Fletchers Cottage Spa. I love the space to relax, recharge and feel lush. They have lots of gorgeous spa packages and beautiful gifts. I especially love Beatitude aromatherapy products for promoting happiness and well being. Rebecca O’Connor is an expert aromatherapist and creator of Beatitude. She lives in East Lothian so her products are local too 🙂

An introduction to the medicinal qualities of essential oils and how to apply them with massage and as home help first aid.
Essential oils are concentrated plant medicines which have therapeutic properties supporting health and well being. They enter the body via skin absorption, respiratory inhalation and stimulate our brain via our sense of smell.
There is a direct connection with our sense of smell, our emotional body and our memory. This can be used to bring comfort, relaxation and promote positive feelings of well being. We can instantly feel the effect when we smell certain oils that can take us to a memory of feeling relaxed and happy. This is such a great tool to help lift us up in dark and gloomy times.
Essential oils for winter inspiration
Get into the lush with uplifting, warm, bright and restorative sweet orange oil. It gives a burst of sunshine, clearing frustration, enhancing positivity and ease.
Another wonderful uplifting and cheering oil is bergamot. It supports the release of pent up feelings giving us space to relax and be carefree.
Frankencense is a great comfort in times of hardship, helping to encourage deep breathing and promote calm.
Dosage and application of essential oils is dependant on the person and situation. Essential oils are usually diluted in a carrier oil before applying to the skin. Usually 20ml of carrier to a maximum of 7 drops of essential oil.
(For more info see Aromatherapy page on website)
There are some wonderful bamboo disfusers which make it easy to enjoy aromatherapy in the home and even in the car. Much more medicinal than a magic tree air freshener!
Essential oils are also therapeutic in soaps, candles, bath salts and as a blend with a base oil such as almond or coconut as a moisturiser for the skin.
Probably the best way to put our love and care into a gift is to make our own. Or add a special message to show our love and appreciation and give our best intent.
There is a lot of authentic inspiration out there.
We just have to relax,
remember whats most important and
give our best intent.
Sending warmest wishes to you for an inspirational winter time! ✨
