promoting health and a strong sense of well being
Being connected to yourself, listening with awareness and living from this truth is a powerful way to be healthy and happy. Reconnect to Self aims to help you achieve a level of health and happiness that will enhance your life and the world around you.
We work with massage, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, Reiki, meditation, Kundalini yoga and often a combination of healing tools – whatever is needed. We also teach classes, in order to share the knowledge and experience that has been gathered over many years of practice and study, and to empower you to develop your own understanding.
We aim to help you connect to yourself to promote your health and happiness and inspire you to shine.
SPRING NEWSLETTER ~ 20th March 2020
We all have a life force which protects us and guides us through challenging times. We just have to remember to stay connected.
✨With each other
Right now we are faced with massive life changes and the need to take care of ourselves and each other properly.
How can we support our health and well being right now?
Number ONE is to
Our nervous system and our immune response are directly related. If we stay calm and relaxed it is the best way to keep our immune system healthy and ready for what it needs to do.
What helps you feel relaxed and calm?
Staying relaxed, calm and positive can be a challenge as we are triggered by the threat of the unknown. Of having our health, work, home and loved ones taken away. It is completely natural to feel anxious and fearful. We do however need to manage how we respond to stressful news and help each other if we spin out.
It is smart to be aware of how much time we spend reading, listening and connecting to the media. There is so much chat going on it can stir us up too much. We are not designed to cope with prolonged high stress levels. We can still get the information we need, and communicatewith who we need to, then it’s best to step away from electronics, have a break and go outside.
Being in nature soothes the mind and encourages us to breathe and be present. This has a calming effect on our nervous system and supports healthy immune function.
We can easily integrate relaxing, calm ways into our day ✨
Go into a garden or park
Breathe fresh air
grow a garden with herbs, flowers and vegetables
move to release tension ~ walk, run, dance
Sing, laugh and play
taking a few moments to recall what we are grateful for and connect again with ourselves.
Some of my favourite healthy, happy ways are..
✨running with ponies in the woods, jumping up and down and shouting “yeay!” (fresh air, nature, play, laughter, exercise, happiness, connection and love)
✨snuggling up cosy with some fluffy friends and purring together (relaxing the body, resting the mind, breathing long and deep, soothing the nervous system, happiness, connection and love)
✨having a good clean in the shower with Beatitude essential oil soap, singing and drinking chamomile tea (cleansing self care, aromatherapy, breathing, releasing and letting go of tension, relaxing, happiness, connection and love)
What are your healthy, happy ways?
It is well known that healthy, happy people are less likely to get taken over by illness and if they do, they recover faster.
This is vital for us to remind each other.
Reminding each other to practice self care is essential.
The guidance on keeping our hands clean is very clear ~ wash them regularly and properly for more than 20 seconds with soap and hot water.
The importance of keeping inside our body clean is also needed to stay healthy.
We are best to eat clean, pure, simple foods that are kind to our body and support our elimination process. Eating a diet consisting of 70% fruit and vegetables is a super way to support our immune system and provide the fibre and anti oxidants needed. A practical way to get lots of vegetables is to grow our own and swap with each other 🙂 or order a vege box delivery.
We do need to remove toxicity from our diet as much as we can to allow our body to focus fully on staying healthy. Get into a habit of checking labels for sneaky sugar and additives content.
Sugar and alcohol are known to suppress the immune system and should be avoided.
I would especially avoid fizzy drinks with sugar and caffeine and even carbonated water. Pure water, herbal tea and fresh pure juices are best.
✨Remembering to drink lots of clean water to stay hydrated (check urine to make sure its clear)
Our internal space is physical as well as mental, emotional and spiritual. We can clear all of these with a good yoga practice.
Yoga means union. A practice where we clear ourselves to connect to the infinite. Physical movement, breathing and positions to unblock, release and allow our life force energy to flow. Then we can sit naturally in meditation.
“Kundalini Yoga is a yoga for householders, for people who have to cope with the daily challenges and stresses of holding jobs, raising families, and managing businesses. It is a path for everyone who wants the skills to cope successfully with the challenges of our times.” https://www.3ho.org/kundalini-yoga
The yurt is offering kundalini yoga classes and individual sessions on zoom at this time.
There is also lots of wonderful information on practices to boost your immune system on the 3HO website
Connecting with our breath, breathing long and deep, then allowing our breath to happen, becoming an observer. That is a meditation space. This practice gives us space for our mind and body to rest and relax and for us to listen to our highest self. It is also a space to get clear and focused for visualisation and prayer.
I remember hearing a story of someone who lived in New Mexico during a drought. She had a lot of trees in her garden that were at great risk of dying. Everyday as part of her meditation she visualised that the trees had enough water and were healthy. One day a delivery driver noticed the trees and asked her what she had done. He wanted to know why all the other trees in the area had died and these ones were the healthiest he had seen!
The power of meditation and visualisation is huge. It is a way for us to stop, connect and send prayers for healing.
We can help by connecting with this space as much as possible and sending positive healing prayers for ourselves, each other and beyond.
✨Reiki is another amazing tool to help support us in challenging times. Especially to promote relaxation, calmness and healing. If you are trained as a Reiki practitioner remember to Reiki yourself every day and share it with others. Start now! Get practicing!
Reiki sessions can be by distance healing so perfect for those who are isolated. If you would like some distance healing from the yurt please let me know. All distance healing is free.
Reiki can be a wonderful aid to support a healthy sleep. We do need to be sleeping well to feel happy and healthy. Sometimes when we wake in the night and our brain starts racing with ideas it’s because we need more space to process. Making space to sit and breathe in the day should help with needing that space to process in the night, allowing deep, sound sleep.
✨Using medicines such as essential oils for promting sound sleep can be a huge help. They can also strengthen our immune system and cleanse our spaces.
Unfortunately there is no evidence right now that essential oils can help prevent the COVID-19 virus. There is a lot of information out there and some sources do claim to help, but right now nothing has shown to prevent or treat it. This will change as we learn more. For now…
✨All we can do is take care of ourselves and each other as best we can and seek medical help if needed.✨
Although there is nothing to show essential oils stop the COVID-19 virus, they have been used effectively for preventing and treating other infections, and can definitely support our mental and emotional health and well being.
Lavender is well known for relaxing us and helping us sleep but it also has many other helpful actions including stimulating our immune system to produce white blood cells. This helps us fight infections and promotes recovery.
Eucalyptus is popular as a remedy for respiratory viruses and to help clear the sinuses. It is perhaps not so well appreciated as protecting the whole body against disease and viruses by strengthening the immune, even in epidemics infections.
Tea tree is another well known essential oil for home help use. It is effective for the treatment of bacterial, viral & fungal infections as well as boosting strength, resistance and confidence.
Essential oils are concentrated and should be diluted before they make contact with the skin or mucus membrane. For info on essential oils, dosage and application see Aromatherapy page http://www.reconnecttoself.com/your-wellbeing/aromatherapy/
(If you have any questions about dosage or application of essential oils or herbal medicines please message firstname.lastname@example.org)
Massage with essential oils is a beautiful way to receive the medicine of the plants and also support our life force during changing times. Self massage on the feet, legs and hands can be a great way to relax, feel calm and connect with ourselves.
The yurt is offering healing treatments especially to support the transition into spring and to recover from changing times.

It is understandable that we will get swept up in fear and chaos sometimes.
Remember to be here right now.
“Much of the secret of life consists in knowing how to laugh, and also how to breathe.” – Alan Watts
Remembering the connection to life and the power of that force. That is what will guide us, protect us and nourishus.
Let our connection be our guide. Step by step.
Through any event.
With all that is around us right now this is an uplifting reminder of our capacity as humans to evolve.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUllIT8rCj4
Its a big wake up for us.
keep ✨our spirits up
and keep ✨up the banter
May the life force be with you ✨
Brightest blessings to you
Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
